Fine filtration with dynamic backwashing
The Dynamic Filter is an automatic fine backwash filter for industrial water circuits up to 4,000 m³/h. It removes coarse debris > 100 µm, thus protecting downstream plant components. Special feature: The use of active filter elements. Backwashing takes place automatically during ongoing operation, without interrupting the throughflow.
Performance and filtration
The Dynamic Filter is suitable for removing debris in the range of from 50 µm to 5 mm. The aim is always to provide downstream components with sufficient protection against macrofouling. The filtration can take place in the main pipe or in the bypass pipe. Even with fluctuating debris loads, the performance remains stable because the filter cleans itself and the flow rate is maintained.
Integration and operation
The Dynamic Filter is installed directly in the pipe, vertically or horizontally. It is delivered in plug-and-work format: Pre-assembled and wired at the factory, with minimal final assembly on site. It is suitable both for new plants and for retrofitting and modernizing existing systems.
Technological basis – two operating principles
Dynamic backwashing
Thanks to the principle of dynamic backwashing, the quantities of flushing water required are significantly reduced, meaning that less water is withdrawn from the water circuit.
Active filter elements
These filter elements are the result of our company’s proprietary expertise. They prevent debris particles from getting caught on the screen surface and thus make a substantial contribution to highly effective and reliable filter surface backwashing. This prevents operational disruptions caused by clogging – an important factor in the availability of hydrotechnical plants.
System design
The Dynamic Filter is designed for industrial applications with small nominal diameters and low volume flows, where automatic fine filtration > 100 µm is required. The risk of clogging can be countered with the use of active filter elements. Other filter systems from the Taprogge portfolio can be used for medium and large nominal diameters or high volume flows.

Features
Low operating costs thanks to dynamic backwashing
The principle of dynamic backwashing allows for low pressure loss and low flushing pressures. This is ideal if only low system pressures are available.
Excellent accessibility
All internal parts are easily accessible without the filter having to be removed.
Advantages
High plant availability
Automatic, uninterrupted operation with active filter elements ensures a consistently high availability for the owner’s plant.
No shutdowns for manual cleaning
Time-consuming manual cleaning procedures are not required. Planned and unplanned shutdowns are prevented.
Low installation costs
Flexible installation options in pipes, vertically or horizontally, reduce the assembly time and costs on site.
Low maintenance costs
The wear-resistant filter design minimizes maintenance work and the need for spare parts.
Typical applications
The Dynamic Filter protects downstream heat exchangers from fouling in industrial applications, e.g. in:
- Auxiliary cooling water circuits
- Partial flow filtration processes
- Industrial process waters or water systems operated with surface waters, as a preliminary or final stage
- Special applications (e.g. filtration of shell larvae)
It closes the gap in the lower performance range of the Taprogge portfolio, where specially optimized filter systems would not be economically viable.
