Protection right at the intake
For submerged intake applications with the water inlet fully below the water surface, TAPIS® protects the pumps directly at the water intake point. As a single-stage pre-treatment system, it replaces classic multi-stage concepts in which traveling band or drum screens are used. Separate intake structures are therefore not required. This reduces the amount of construction work needed, minimizes the installation space required on land, and simplifies operation – particularly in heat pump applications and desalination plants.
TAPIS® at a glance
- Reliably protects pumps directly at the water intake point
- Prevents dirt and debris from being drawn in, meaning that the disposal operations required in conventional intake structures are not necessary
- Allows for low-maintenance operation without moving parts in the water
- Ensures high plant availability through continuous operation
- Offers a compact submerged intake solution for applications with limited space
Operating principle in a nutshell
The heart of the system is the TAPIS® polyhedron with the cling-free filter elements developed by Taprogge on the basis of a specific channel geometry. This technology allows for efficient backwashing and a stable filtration capacity – even with fibrous debris such as algae or seaweed.
Typical applications
- Water inlets in the sea, lakes, or rivers
- Heat pump applications
- Central air-conditioning systems
- Compact desalination plants
- Plants with downstream reverse osmosis (RO)
